Robot Name Reveal 2018!

Untitled presentationWeek 4 into the build season yet no robot completely finished as of yet, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have a name for it. Every year, students submit a name for the robot and put all the submissions into a vote. This year, we, the media team, wanted to present the robot name to the rest of the team in a creative way. Check out our YouTube Video on the entire experience by clicking here. We won’t post any spoilers here. Hope you enjoy it!

MOE Heading to Deep Space

MOE was watching the live stream during Saturday’s Kickoff Video where we found out the how the entire field will look for Destination: Deep Space and all of the rules. After the live stream was over, we all discussed how this game could go, what to think about while designing the robot, all specifications in the game manual and many other things. Many students have smart ideas including ways to climb onto the third level, different ways to use the sandstorm period to our advantage, etc.

We cannot wait to see how everything plays out in our first competition in Westtown and all the competitions that follow.

MOE 20th Anniversary Reunion

IMG_5557Not sure if you’ve been on social media lately, but on Thanksgiving weekend, we had our reunion gathering. We had over 100 alumni students, mentors, and boosters/parents from previous years.  We’ve had many people return to Delaware from the state of Alabama, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, and other places in the country.  20th_JAW105521e (2) “We really just wanted people to reconnect after many years after there time here at MOE,” says John Larock (AKA Mr. MOE).   Even Carol Perrotto thought that “It was great seeing what the alumni are up to now, and seeing how the things we taught them is helping them now in their lives.”

IMG_8358Many of our current students volunteered in this event by doing robot demos, greeting guests, escorting guests to the lab and making sure everyone was having a great time! IMG_5563We were also displaying many memorabilia from the past years such as shirts, photos, yearly posters, the MOE crate, robot parts, awards, and even the chairman’s award poster, as well as playing videos for people to watch. 20th_JAW105527eWe want to thank our long-time sponsor DuPont for the past 20 years for providing us with a space to meet, financial support, and bringing mentors to our way. We also want to thank Dupont for providing the space used for the reunion.

MOE at Ramp Riot!

MOE attended this years’ Ramp Riot, hosted by Miss Daisy 341. Although we did not do the greatest this time around, that’s alright because we all had a great time with all of our alliance partners- team 1391, 11, and 484. The one thing we did win was the Mike Wade Memorial Award for the Food Drive. We know that the important part was not the award, but that we were able to give some food to those who will really need it in the upcoming cold winter months. We cannot wait for next years’ Ramp Riot but for now, we must say goodbye to our sweet and beloved MOErio. Can’t wait to see everyone in the upcoming Deep Space Competitions next year!

Duel on the Delaware 2018

The duel on Delaware was an off season fall event where most new and old MOE members participated in. MOE was the host of the event along with our sister group team 316 “LunaTECHS”. It was a long busy day from the practice rounds all the way through the qualifying rounds. Although it was a packed day, the energy never faded in all teams. There were several dance breaks and friendly bonding with fellow teams. MOE 365 was praised for our high spirits though we had a lot on our shoulders. In the end we reached the finals and were able to place in 5th, go MOE!

$20 For 365

As our 20th Anniversary is coming up, we’re encouraging our alumni and anyone else who wants to help out to donate about $20 or more for this year’s team expenses! You may think that $20 isn’t much, but that can help our students pay off their travel expenses or even get a meal plan for the build season. We’d all very much appreciate any donation we can get.  You can learn more and donate here!
