First State Robotics' Inaugural STEM Expo

After a week of snow and ice, we had a beautiful day for the First State Robotics STEM Expo Saturday March 7 at Cab Calloway School of the Arts! Lots of free educational fun was had, from space suits to sound waves to 3D printing, and, of course, lots of robots, including our own EliMOEnator, interactive FLL Lego bots, and 8 Delaware FTC teams competing throughout the day. Special guests included Delaware Governor Jack Markell and Red Clay Superintendent of Schools Mervin Daugherty. Almost 200 people attended our special screening of the SlingShot documentary. Thank you to everyone who came out -- especially to all of the hard-working volunteers, and our sponsors: Delaware Bio, Hologic, Sylvan Learning, US Horn Center for Entrepreneurship, Christiana Care Health Systems, Gore & Associates, and Kenny Family ShopRites!

ToMOEhawk was bagged and tagged on Tuesday, February 17, with time to spare! Team members Blake, Matt, Andrew, and Anna did the honors at 8:47 p.m.
MOE had one day to relax after the Stop Build, but our work isn’t done -- we’ll be busy getting ready for our first competition at Springside-Chestnut Hill Academy in Willow Grove, PA on March 13-14.

MOE at the Museum
February 6, 2015
MOE plays a part in the new “Robot Zoo” exhibit at the Delaware Museum of Natural History! The interactive exhibit, which features three robot animals, includes our Championship 2001 “L’il MOE” robot on display.L’il MOE was unveiled at the Members’ Preview Party on February 6, along with 3D printing demonstrations and robot activities for kids. If you missed the party, don’t worry -- the exhibit will be on display at the Museum through May 25.
Delaware Community Foundation Grants MOE with 6,600 greens!
January 22, 2015
Delaware Community Foundation selected MOE FRC as recipients for their Next Generation Grant. This grant will provide $6,600 for outreach programs for the 2015 season. The grant provides money to build a demonstration robot and five smaller Tetrix robots to give visitors experience driving a robot.
Our student officers, Mahesh, Sam and Liz visited the Community Foundation to accept the big check!
This marks the second year MOE has been awarded the Next Generation Grant, and MOE would like to thank the Delaware Community Foundation for their ongoing support.

MOE Kicks Off 2015 Season!
January 3rd - 4th, 2015The 2015 FIRST season officially started on January 3, with the announcement of this year's game: "Recycle Rush." The team spent the weekend learning the rules inside and out, brainstorming, and setting up a full-sized playing field in the build area. The "green" theme fits MOE, don't you think?

On July 12, MOE spent a lovely Saturday at Dorney Park for the MAR Team Day hosted by our friends at 1640, SabBOTage. Amidst all the roller coasters and rides, we also found time to refresh ourselves with some coke!
