MOE at the 2008 first Finger Lakes Regional

Rochester Institute of Technology

RIT Tiger From March 5 to March 8, MOE participated in the Finger Lakes Regional, in upstate New York at the Rochester Institute of Technology, otherwise known as RIT. The competition had lots of spirit, and was very exciting. MOE is happy to have been a part of this event.

MOE on the bus

Wednesday, The First Day: The Departure for Rochester

On the day before the Practice rounds of the Finger Lakes Regional, MOE packed their belongings on the Conestoga Coach Bus, and brought our food aboard the bus, knowing that we would be hungry later. When we reached the hotel, we unpacked all of our belongings and headed to our rooms. We made sure that we gained a good rest for the practice rounds the next day.

Thursday, The Second Day: Practice Matches!

With the pit unpacked, MOE was soon ready to have DynaMOE perform in the Practice Matches. Seeing all the robots on the field for the first time was a great sight to see. MOE noticed that there were a good amount of robots that seemed to have the same kind of concept with the design of their robot, and knew that the next day that other teams would be playing on a more intense level.

Friday, The Third Day: Qualification Rounds

As we thought, the teams in the Qualification Rounds played at a higher level than they did on Thursday. MOE did an excellent job with our great drive team. Our scouts also did a terrific job gaining information on opposing robots. There were 67 Qualifying Matches, and instead of ending at the 50th match for the day, Qualifiers ended at the 60th round.

Saturday, The Final Day: Qualifiers, Finals, and Awards

The remaining 7 matches were completed, and soon afterwards alliances for the final matches were to be chosen. We were the first picked team by the number one seed, Team 1507, The Warlocks. Our third alliance partner was Team 145, T-Rx. We played through till the semi-finals, where we were defeated. The second round was a close one with penalties, and MOE almost scored a Trackball on the Overpass after being tipped over! It was an exciting match to see, and the Miracle Workerz, The Warlocks, amd T-Rx still walked away proud, and cheered on the other first teams that remained in the Final Rounds.

The whole MOE team would also like to give special thanks our bus driver, Don. After all, without him we wouldn't be able to get to Rochester so easily.

Don, our bus driver who stayed with us for the whole regional!

Fun Stuff

We have a high spirited team as others may have noticed. We have costumes, dance, and play hacky sack!
