Spreading the Word of first

During kickoff 2010, Dean Kamen did what he normally does; he gave the first world homework. This year Dean really wanted to focus on spreading the word of first , and reaching out to people outside of the competition teams. Dean compared first to sports, saying that he wanted first events to draw crowds like sports did. Dean Kamen also mentioned preventing first from following all of the negative parts of sports, such as booing or bad sportsmanship.

The MOE team has been spreading the word of first since the team began eleven years ago. MOE students urge friends and relatives to join them in their competions, and many come from as far north as New York to as south as Virginia. MOE also advertises first and MOE events at nearby companies where their mentors work. For example, at DuPont, MOE's primary sponsor, there are bullitin board postings and, at times, stories on the DuPont Network News. MOE also has enormous outreach to their community by hosting the Duel on the Delaware which advertises all around Delaware and Pennsylvania.

MOE has been know for their gracious professionalism ever since the beginning. MOE greatly emphasizes helping others and having good sportsmanship during competitions. From their Roving Pit Crew (which is specifically designed to help other teams) to their incessant cheering for everyone, MOE makes others feel good.
