Philadelphia Regional 2009

The Miracle Workerz participated in the philadelphia Regional, this time held at Temple University's Liacouras Center, which took place from March 19 - March 21, in Philadelphia, PA. 52 other teams competed other than MOE during the event, each packed with spirit and brought competition to the field. MOE was proud to compete in the event, especially since we were apart of the winning alliance of the regional!

On Thursday, the first day of the competition, MOE showed up ready with CozMOE to meet and compete with other teams. MOE's stands were filled with spirit, yeling out random cheers every now anc then. At the same time, MOE students and Mentors were checking out the sky box that was to be used for representatives from our main sponsor, Dupont, so that they could have a specific area to have to watch the competition. Later during the day, MOE sstudents went out to the pits to find information about robots from other teams, and we would all gather into the stands to cheer on our competition team and CozMOE while they would perform on the field, showing great results.

As expected, the spirit throughout each team dramatically increased, including the intensity on the field. With balls flying amongst the stands, people dancing, cheering, and with teams recording scouting information, it seemed like the environment of the competition completely changed. MOE's competition team tried their very best in each match, and we were proud of their performance on the field whether they won or lost. Along with all the spirit that was going on through the compeition, MOE brought out the Green Man Group (GMG) to demonstrate their musical skills during the lunch break, nearby the main entrance to the Liacouras Center. People were pleased to see the performance, especially with our dancing spirit catcher going around the music.

During the rest of the qualifiying matches of the regional on Saturday, the spirit in the stadium didn't seem to decrease at all. At the end of it, alliance selection came, and MOE was chosen by the #6 alliance, Team 395, 2 Train Robotics. We then selected our third alliance member, Team 56, Robbe Xtreme. All three teams gathered together during eliminations, cheering on the #6 alliance throughout each and every one of their matches. Our alliance went through each elimination round, losing one round during the semi-finals, but in the end reached the final rounds. After all three teams gathered on the floor by the playing field, and a cupid shuffle dance that occured before the final round, our alliance proceeded to winning the regional! The alliance instnatly bursted with cheering, long enough to continue till we had to return to our seats for the awards ceremony. We would like to thank Teams 395 and 56 for being part of our alliance and going with us as far as we did! Hope to see ya at Atlanta! Also, congratulations to each participating team! You all did an excellent job with your robot and on the field.
