Chestnut Hill first Robotics District Competition

For the first time in MOE history we attended a district event! Although the event was smaller than our usual regional events, our 2012 robot, CoMOEtion, was able to compete in more matches. These extra matches proved to be extremely advantageous for us because our drivers had less practice than usual before the district event. MOE came out bright and early on both Friday and Saturday with lots of spirit and energy, and we had a great time interacting with both new and old friends. MOE seeded twelfth and was chosen to compete with the number two alliance consisting of Team 486 (Positronic Panthers) and Team 2229 (Colonials). We ended the competition in the semifinals. We all had a great time at the Chestnut Hill District.

In addition, MOE also received the Entrepreneurship Award sponsored by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. This award is presented to the team who, in the judges' opinions, "has developed a comprehensive business plan in order to define, manage, and achieve team objectives." Over the summer, MOE's Student Council revamped the entire business plan and are proud that it paid off. Within the business plan we included a detailed continuity plan (whose protocol we actually implemented this year) and many pages on sponsors, membership, and outreach. Thank you to all the judges who took the time to recognize our hard work! Also, we received many awards from our fellow teams - thank you!
